Description: It’s simple. Disconnect to reconnect. We’re going exploring and learning some survival skills deep in the White Mountains. We’re  hiking about six miles into the woods to visit with serenity on an overnight stay in the middle of no where without electricity, internet, reception, running water, and other luxuries.

Date: Sun. Jan 12th – Mon. Jan 13th

Cost: $135 per person and includes guide, gear, hut, etc.

 Expect the unexpected, but here’s some things you can count on:XTRMCAMPING_THUMB

  • No electricity.

  • No internet.

  • No showers or running water.

  • There will be plenty of drinking water.

  • Use your phone battery for pictures only and post to facebook only after your expedition.

  • There will be toilet paper and toilets.

  • Hut will have shelter from wind and rain (they are not tents).

  • Limited heat from wood stove in main lobby.

  • Bedrooms do not have heat.

  • Dress warm…duh. We recommend long underwear (preferably fleece), snowpants for overnight comfort, any outdoor winter gear is recommended.

  • Winter boots and/or gloves and/or hats will be provided with one week request prior to hike.

  • Backpack will be provided.

  • Snow shoes will be provided.

  • All necessary gear will be provided.

Highland Center

Day 1

9:00 a.m. Introduction at Highland Center (http://www.outdoors.org/lodging/whitemountains/highland/)

10:00 a.m. Hit the trail and learn the following skills:

  • Animal tracking

  • No match fire building

  • Winter ecology

  • Snowshoe skills

  • Map & Compass

  • Team building

Hike 6.3 miles to the Zealand Hut… 5 – 8 hours.

1:00 p.m Arrive at Zealand Hut and drop gear.

Kitchen includes: 8 gas burners, water, tables, bathroom (no running water).

1:30 p.m. Hike to awesome scenic viewpoints.

4:00 p.m. Return to hut.

6:00 p.m. Enjoy some incredible star gazing (and la’chaims).

7:00 p.m. R&R and dinner, drinks, sit by wood stove.

Day 2

8:00 a.m. Hit the trail back to the starting point.

12:00 p.m. Arrive starting point.
