Celebrating Judaism.

Jonathan P. Katz, Executive Director

Hi folks! Let’s connect on linkedin for a professional snapshot or if you’d prefer you can friend me on facebook for a more personal chat.

Here at Jewish PULSE of Boston, we treat you as the unique individual  who you are. Prior knowledge or background not required. We have no prerequisites and we pride ourselves on relating Judaism to everyone on their terms which is why we have so many different programs spanning the spectrum of Jewish life.

You can find us leading a a bus of wild college students on a free Taglit-Birthright Israel trip to Israel or in an executive learning session with Harvard PhD candidates and Fortune 500 executives.

We love guests for Friday night dinners and have a passion for celebrating Shabbat with friends old and new. Whether you’ve been around or are a first-timer…give us a try – we’re just a little bit different.

Hit me up for a coffee or your beverage of choice: katz@jpulseboston.com or call me 617-849-8483 x104.

Rabbi Michael Greene

Michael Greene earned his bachelor’s degree in physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He specialized in nuclear physics, traveling together with his professor to the pulsed neutron beam of Los Alamos National Laboratory to conduct experimental measurements of pion and gamma ray production reactions.

After university, Michael studied Talmudic law and methods of legal analysis in the Jerusalem academies of advanced Talmudic research (yeshivos). Over the course of six intensive years as a rabbinic student, Michael mastered the Hebrew and Aramaic languages and became a scholar of Talmudic law. Recently, Michael returned to Boston to serve as a rabbinic educator, teaching Talmudic analysis and Jewish thought to undergraduate and graduate students at MIT, Boston University and Wellesley College, while pursuing his own advanced studies at the Boston Academy of Talmudic Research.

In addition to his physics and Talmudic training, Michael has years of industry experience as a senior software engineer for corporations in both Israel and America, such as NDS Ltd., Expand Beyond Corp., and Yankee Robotics, with a focus on embedded and real-time programming for mobile and embedded devices.

Michael is now synthesizing his multifaceted background into a cohesive, harmonious whole through a career in intellectual property law. Michael is currently a law student at Boston College Law School, and plans to practice patent law in Boston while continuing his efforts towards furthering Jewish education.

Michael lives in Brighton with his wife and four children, and enjoys spending his free time with his family. He is also an accomplished classical and jazz pianist and clarinetist.

Rabbi Yonasan Rodkin

Rabbi Yonasan Rodkin brings over 15 years of scholarship in advanced Talmudic law and in depth study of a wide variety of Jewish subjects which he accomplished at the great Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem, Israel and Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, New Jersey. Rabbi Rodkin, a native of Far Rockaway, New York, has a burning belief that Torah learning should be accessible and enjoyed by all. In the past, he spent two years as Assistant Rabbi in Manalapan, New Jersey, and delivered seminars in Jewish medical ethics and other hot topics with doctors, professionals and executives in attendance. He is passionate about learning together, discussing and analyzing concepts in a fun, friendly but intellectual manner and believes this to be a crucial way to grow and better understand our Jewish heritage and wisdom. His wife Rochel Leah, a native of Boulder Colorado, grew up in a Hillel House rabbinic household at Colorado University. The entire Rodkin family is excited to join team JPULSE which aims to connect with students and young professionals who share a honest desire to understand and explore more about their rich heritage in a comfortable and exciting environment.

In their free time, the Rodkin’s enjoy the great outdoors and history. Come make your own history and hit Rabbi Rodkin up for some learning, coffee or a Shabbos meal and gain friendship, knowledge and a deeper understanding of Judaism in the often imitated but never duplicated, JPULSE vibe.
